Sourcing in China: verified suppliers, negotiation and secure purchasing
InvestWorld supports you in finding, verifying and selecting reliable Chinese suppliers for your products. Our expertise in the Chinese market helps you reduce risk and optimise your sourcing costs.
Based in Foshan (Guangdong), in the heart of manufacturing China, we help importers and entrepreneurs in Canada and Quebec buy from Chinese suppliers: an English- and French-speaking contact, end-to-end follow-up, and purchases prepared for import into Canada (packing, labelling and documents to arrange with your freight forwarder).
What we do for you
1. Supplier research and identification
We identify manufacturers and suppliers that precisely match your product specifications, volume requirements and pricing criteria. Using our direct contacts in China and professional sourcing tools, we present you with a qualified selection.
2. Supplier verification and audit
Before making any recommendation, we verify:
- The company’s legal existence and official status
- Its actual production capacity
- Its quality certifications and standards
- Its reputation among other international buyers
We do not rely solely on information displayed on a platform. We verify the company’s identity and existence, its business information, its activity, its ability to supply the requested product and the consistency of its offer. Where the assignment requires it, our presence in China also enables us to arrange an on-site verification and speak directly with the supplier or factory before the client commits.
3. Price and terms negotiation
We negotiate on your behalf to secure the best possible terms: unit prices, payment schedules, shipping terms, guarantees and quality-control arrangements. Our understanding of Chinese business practices is a decisive advantage at this stage.
4. Quality control before shipment
We carry out rigorous quality checks before each shipment to ensure that your products meet the agreed specifications. This includes:
- Checking dimensions, materials and finishes
- Functional testing according to the product type
- Checking packaging and labelling
Before shipment, we can arrange quality control tailored to the product and order: checking quantities, appearance and finishes, agreed dimensions or characteristics, functionality where it can be tested, as well as packaging and labelling. If an issue is identified, the client is informed before shipment so that a decision can be made with the supplier.
5. Logistics coordination
Once the order is ready, InvestWorld can coordinate the different stages between the supplier, goods inspection and the logistics partner selected for shipment. Depending on the assignment and the client’s destination, we facilitate communication among the parties involved so that goods are delivered to the agreed shipping point. International transport, customs formalities and related costs are determined according to the destination and each client’s specific needs.
A China sourcing agent built for Canadian buyers
Whether you are in Quebec City, Montreal, Toronto or anywhere else in Canada, buying from China remotely takes a method. Here is how we secure your purchases:
- Verification before payment: we check that the supplier exists and is reliable before any transfer (how to spot a supplier scam, three checks before you pay).
- Supplier audit: documents, production capacity and references (auditing a Chinese supplier, step by step).
- Comparison of several suppliers before we recommend a shortlist, rather than the first low price.
- Quality control before shipment (what to check).
- Coordination with your freight forwarder up to the agreed shipping point.

Products we source in China
InvestWorld supports product sourcing across many sectors: equipment and machinery, construction materials, furniture and fittings, home products, beauty and wellness, packaging, textiles and accessories, professional equipment, automotive parts and accessories, pet products, and many other categories depending on the client’s project.
Each request is assessed individually to identify the manufacturers or suppliers best suited to the product sought, quantities, expected level of quality and destination market.
Among the sectors we cover:
- General consumer products
- Pet products (see our dedicated sector)
Is your product not on this list? That is not necessarily a problem. The Chinese market covers a considerable number of sectors and specialisations. InvestWorld also reviews requests outside the usual categories and, where the project is feasible, looks for manufacturers or suppliers able to meet the client’s specifications.
What we do not do
- We do not guarantee delivery times that are beyond our direct control.
- We do not work with suppliers that we have not verified beforehand.
- We do not recommend suppliers solely on the basis of their price, without verifying their reliability.
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order volume for using your sourcing service?
There is no single minimum quantity that applies to every project. MOQs depend on the product and supplier, but InvestWorld also considers the real commercial viability of the transaction. A very small order may be technically possible while offering little economic value once transport costs are added.
As a general indication, some freight solutions become more relevant from around 22 kg per parcel, while accompanied-parcel services may allow up to approximately 32 kg, subject to the applicable conditions. Below certain volumes, logistics costs can represent a disproportionate share of the goods’ value. We therefore prefer to inform the client before purchase rather than let them discover afterwards that transport costs nearly as much as, or even more than, their products.
Particular care also applies to branded products. InvestWorld does not encourage the purchase or shipment of goods whose origin or authenticity cannot be sufficiently substantiated. For certain branded products, invoices, authorisations or other supporting documents may be required depending on the carrier, destination and customs formalities.
Each project is therefore assessed against four criteria: the product, quantity, budget and shipping conditions to the destination country.
How long does a complete sourcing process take?
The sourcing timeframe depends on the complexity of the project. Research for a relatively standard product can be completed quickly, whereas a project requiring several manufacturers, technical specifications, customisation, samples or in-depth negotiations will take longer.
From the outset, InvestWorld assesses the request and communicates the next steps to the client. Our priority is not to present the first supplier found, but to identify a solution that is consistent with the requested product, budget, expected quality and purchasing conditions.
What are your fees?
Sourcing fees are set according to the nature and complexity of the assignment. They may take into account the number of products sought, the required level of verification, negotiations, visits or on-site inspections, and any additional services requested.
Before a paid assignment begins, InvestWorld explains the scope of its support and the applicable fees. Costs related to goods, samples, transport, specific inspections, duties and taxes, or other third-party services are identified separately when they are not included in the offer.
Our objective is for the client to understand what InvestWorld covers and what remains their responsibility before committing.
Can you work with an existing product that I would like manufactured in China?
Yes. We can help you find a manufacturer able to produce your product to your technical specifications (OEM). Contact us to discuss your specific case.
Why use a sourcing agent instead of buying directly on Alibaba?
A platform connects you with sellers but does not always verify the supplier, the real quality or the compliance of your order. A sourcing agent verifies the company, negotiates, inspects the goods and represents you on the ground. See our comparison: Alibaba or a sourcing agent in China.
How can I avoid Chinese supplier scams?
Never pay before you have verified the company’s legal existence, compared the offer with several suppliers and agreed the payment terms. We detail the warning signs in our scam guide.
How do I find a reliable Chinese supplier from Canada?
Define your product, quantities and budget, then have the shortlisted suppliers verified (identity, production capacity, references) before ordering. This is exactly InvestWorld’s role: our team on the ground identifies and verifies for you.
Do you work with companies in Quebec and Canada?
Yes. We support importers and entrepreneurs in Canada and Quebec, in English and French. We prepare your purchases for shipping to Canada and coordinate with your freight forwarder. Just starting out? See Start here.
